Political junkies will be keeping their eyes on Iowa this Tuesday.

President Obama is taking a trip back to the state that launched his 2008 presidential rocket ride, and so is one of his most prominent critics: Sarah Palin.

As people wait to see if Palin will run for president next year, she plans to go to Pella, Iowa, on Tuesday for what promoters call the world premiere of The Undefeated, a documentary about her political rise.

“We are very excited to visit historic Pella and its opera house and look forward to seeing the finished film for the first time with fellow Americans from the heartland,” said the 2008 Republican nominee for vice president.

Earlier in the day, about 150 miles to the east, Obama will be in Bettendorf, Iowa, for a visit to the Alcoa Davenport Works Factory. The White House schedule says Obama will “tour the facility and discuss the critical role that the manufacturing sector plays in the American economy.”

The dueling visits of Obama and Palin follow another big Iowa political event on Monday: The kickoff of the Republican campaign of Rep. Michelle Bachmann, R-Minn.

Here’s a description of the Palin documentary from its promoters:

The Undefeated features leading prominent political commentators Mark Levin, Tammy Bruce and Andrew Breitbart as well as conservative activists Kate Obenshein, Sonnie Johnson and Jamie Radtke. Additionally, the film features interviews with Alaskan civil servants, elected officials and advisors who were involved in Alaskan politics during Governor Palin’s tenure.
